Artikel kali ini masih membahas tentang materi grammar dalam bahasa Inggris yaitu mengenai tenses. Disini saya akan melanjutkan pembahasan dari artikel sebelumnya yaitu mengenai past tense. Dan kita akan belajar mengenai tenses past future tense.

Penjelasan mengenai tenses dari golongan past future tense, yaitu Simple past future tense, Pas future continuous tense, Past future perfect tense, dan Past future perfect continuous tense.

13.    Simple Past Future Tense

Fungsi:
-      Menyatakan suatu rencana yang seharusnya dilakukan di masa lampau tetapi gagal terjadi.
Contoh: I would spend my holiday in Pare last month

Rumus Verbal:
(+)    S + would/should + V1 + O + Keterangan Waktu

(-)    S + Would/should + not + V1 + O + Keterangan Waktu

(?)   Would/Should + S + V1 + O + Keterangan Waktu ?

Contoh:
(+) She would teach her students yesterday
(-) She wouldn’t teach her students yesterday
(?) Would she teach her students yesterday?
Yes, she would / No, she wouldn’t

Rumus Nominal:
(+)    S + would/should + be + Complement

(-)    S + would/should + not + be + Complement

(?)   Would/Should + S + be + Complement ?

Contoh:
(+) They would be in a restaurant last night
(-) They wouldn’t be in a restaurant last night
(?) Would they be in a restaurant last night?
Yes, they would / No, they wouldn’t

Keterangan Waktu:
- Yesterday    

- Two days ago
- Last week

14.    Past Future Continuous Tense

Fungsi:
-      Menyatakan aktifitas yang akan sedang berlangsung di masa lampau (tidak terjadi)

Contoh: He would be sitting in the room at 8 o’clock this morning

Rumus Verbal:
(+)   S + would/should + be + V-ing + O + Keterangan Waktu

(-)    S + would/should + not + be + V-ing + O + Keterangan Waktu

(?)   Would/Should + S + be + V-ing + O + Keterangan Waktu ?

Contoh:
(+) My sister would be waiting for her friend on Sunday yesterday
(-) My sister wouldn’t be waiting for her friend on Sunday yesterday
(?) Would my sister be waiting for her friend on Sunday yesterday?
Yes, she would / No, she wouldn’t

Rumus Nominal:
(+)   S + would + be + Complement

(-)    S + would/should + not + be + Complement

Keterangan Waktu:
-      At ........ o’clock yesterday
-      On Friday last week
-      By this time yesterday

15.    Past Future Perfect Tense
Fungsi:
-      Menyatakan aktifitas yang seharusnya telah selesai dilakukan di masa lampau akan tetapi gagal terjadi.

Contoh: I would have had breakfast before I went to school yesterday morning

Rumus Verbal:
(+)    S + would/should + have + V3 + O + Keterangan Waktu

(-)    S + would/should + not + have + V3 + O + Keterangan Waktu

(?)   Would/Should + S + have + V3 + O + Keterangan Waktu ?

Contoh:
(+) You would have gone to the theatre if it hadn’t rained last night
(-) you wouldn’t have gone to the theatre if it had rained last night
(?) Would you have gone to the theatre if it hadn’t rained last night?

16.    Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Fungsi:
-      Menyatakan aktifitas yang seharusnya telah sedang berlangsung selama beberapa waktu di masa lampau tetapi gagal terjadi.

Contoh: Adele would have been finishing her study in University for 4 years in Kediri when her mother passed away.

Rumus Verbal:
(+)    S + would/should + have + been + V-ing + O + Ket. Waktu

(-)    S + would/should + not + have + been + V-ing + O + Ket. Waktu

(?)   Would/Should + S + have + been + V-ing + O + Ket. Waktu ?

Contoh:
(+) He would have been waiting for his cousin for an hour yesterday night
(-) He wouldn’t have been waiting for his cousin for an hour yesterday night
(?) Would he have been waiting for his cousin for an hour yesterday night?
Yes, he would / No, he wouldn’t

Tenses merupakan bagian terpenting yang harus di kuasai guna menguasai seluruh aspek dalam bahasa inggris bukan hanya grammar, tetapi juga speaking, listening, writing dan reading.

 

Ada banyak perbedaan mengenai berapa banyak jumlah tenses, tetapi di sini kita akan mempelajari dari pendapat yang paling banyak untuk mengerti semua jenis tenses, agar kita tidak hanya belajar setengah-setengah dari materi tersebut tetapi sepenuhnya. 

Tenses dalam grammar bahasa Inggris.

Tenses adalah perubahan kata kerja yang dipengaruhi oleh waktu dan sifat kejadiannya. Ada 16 tenses dalam bahasa Inggris. Dibawah ini ada nama dari 16 tenses di ikuti dengan rumus masing-masing tenses.

Penjelasan dan fungsi setiap tenses.

1.  Simple Present Tense

Fungsi:

-        Menyatakan suatu aktifitas yang menjadi rutinitas

Contoh: I watch TV every day

-       Menunjukkan suatu fakta

Contoh: The sky is blue

2.  Present Continuous Tense

Fungsi:

-       Menyatakan suatu aktifitas yang sedang berlangsung pada saat berbicara

Contoh: He is driving his car now

 

3.  Present Perfect Tense

Fungsi:

-     Menyatakan aktifitas yang telah terjadi sebelum waktu sekarang ini (waktu terjadinya tidak penting)

Contoh: Ann has eaten dinner

-        Menyatakan aktifitas yang telah terjadi beberapa kali (waktu terjadinya tidak penting)

Contoh: Peter has gone to the theater three times

-       Menyatakan keadaan yang telah dimulai pada saat tertentu dan hingga kini masih berlangsung. Dalam hal ini, “since” dan “for” digunakan.

Contoh: Mr. Bean has lived in this city since 1998

4.  Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Fungsi:

-       Menyatakan lamanya peristiwa yang terjadi dan masih berlangsung saat dibicarakan.

Contoh: My father has been working for an hour.

 5.  Simple Past Tense

Fungsi:

-  Menyatakan aktifitas yang terjadi pada masa lampau

       Contoh: I wrote a letter last night

6.  Past Continuous Tense

Fungsi:

- Menyatakan aktifitas yang sedang terjadi di masa lampau (waktu yang tertentu)

       Contoh: I was taking a rest at 02.05 P.M. yesterday

7.  Past Perfect Tense

Fungsi:

-Menyatakan aktifitas yang telah terjadi sebelum aktifitas lain selesai di masa lampau

      Contoh: After John had called his family, he went outside

-Menyatakan lamanya aktifitas yang telah terjadi di masa lampau dan sudah tidak berlangsung

 saat dibicarakan

      Contoh: Abdu had lived in New York for ten years before he moved to California

8.  Past Perfect Continuous Tense

 Fungsi:

-   Menyatakan lamanya aktifitas yang telah terjadi di masa lampau dan sudah tidak berlangsung saat dibicarakan

Contoh: Abdu had been living in New York for ten years before he moved to California

9.  Simple Future Tense

Fungsi:

-        Menyatakan aktifitas atau rencana yang dilakukan di masa yang akan datang

Contoh: She will finish her homework tomorrow.

10.  Future Continuous Tense

Fungsi:

-     Menyatakan aktifitas yang akan sedang berlangsung di masa yang akan datang

           Contoh: I will be waiting for you at 8 o’clock tonight.

11.  Future Perfect Tense

Fungsi:

-   Menyatakan aktifitas yang telah selesai di masa yang akan datang (sebelum aktifitas lain terjadi)

       Contoh: I will have finished my homework by the time I go out on a date tonight

 

12.  Future Perfect Continuous Tense

Fungsi:

-      Menyatakan lamanya aktifitas yang telah sedang berlangsung di masa yang akan datang (sebelum aktifitas lain terjadi)

Contoh: I will have been sleeping for two hours by the time he gets home

13.  Simple Past Future Tense

Fungsi:

-    Menyatakan suatu rencana yang seharusnya dilakukan di masa lampau tetapi gagal terjadi.

     Contoh: I would spend my holiday in Pare last month.

14.  Past Future Continuous Tense

Fungsi:

-    Menyatakan aktifitas yang seharusnya sedang berlangsung di masa lampau (tidak terjadi)

     Contoh: He would be sitting in the room at 8 o’clock this morning

15.  Past Future Perfect Tense

Fungsi:

-    Menyatakan aktifitas yang seharusnya telah selesai dilakukan di masa lampau akan tetapi gagal terjadi.
